With the newly released iOS 18.2, iPhone, iPad, and Mac compatible with Apple Intelligence will deeply integrate ChatGPT, adding the feature of creating images and emojis using AI.
After more than 6 weeks of beta testing, Apple has officially released iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 to supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. The most significant upgrades are related to Apple Intelligence features, including Image Playground, Genmoji, Image Wand, Visual Intelligence smart search, and the official integration of ChatGPT into Siri.
Apple Intelligence on the new operating system will add native English support for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK.
The updated iOS 18.2 version for iPhone 16 Pro Max has a capacity of more than 7 GB. However, after updating, users still need a long time for the system to download data components such as Siri, Image Playground, and Genmoji to be able to use them.
New features for Apple Intelligence on iOS, iPad 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 include:
Image Playground

A new app called Playground allows you to use specific concepts, descriptions, and personal photos on your device to create fun, quirky images in a variety of styles, such as cartoons and illustrations. Users can swipe back and forth between versions, styles, and choose the variation they like best.
The image creation feature can work in the Messages app, Freeform, and third-party software. The created images will be synced to the Image Playground library on all devices via iCloud.
Genmoji

An AI-powered emoji generator is also available starting with iOS 18.2. Users can enter a text description, and the system will generate a corresponding icon. Using images from the library, Genmoji can create images inspired by friends or family members. Personalized Genmoji can be customized with accessories like hats or sunglasses, and can reflect a theme or activity.
Gemoji will appear right on the keyboard to create directly while writing messages, chatting via third-party apps. These emoji will sync across all devices with iCloud.
Create annotated images from text with Image Wand

The Image Wand feature built into the Note app allows users to quickly create illustrations using existing photos and text within the note. Image Wand can turn a sketch into a complete image by circling it. It can also create completely new illustrations by circling the space between text paragraphs.
Deep integration of ChatGPT into Siri and the system

With version 18.2, devices can access ChatGPT directly from Siri or Writing Tools instead of opening the app. Users will not need to log in to an OpenAI account, and data and usage history will not be shared with the provider and privacy is guaranteed. Apple still offers the option to log in to an OpenAI account if the owner wants more personalized features and is protected according to the company’s data policy.
Visual Intelligence for Camera Control Button
With the iPhone 16 series, the Camera Control button will have a new feature. When pressed, Visual Intelligence will immediately help users learn about locations, flora and fauna, or interact with real-world information. The camera button also adds focus lock and exposure lock features when held down.
